Last night, the Google Launch Night was eagerly awaited, especially for the announcement of the Pixel 5. On the occasion, Mountain View not only presented its new smartphone. We were able to discover a new Chromecast as well as the new Nest Audio and its innovative design. Along with these priority announcements, we’ve discovered some exciting new features related to the Google Assistant.
You had to think about it.
One of these properties that has particularly caught our attention is called: “Hold for me”. In French, “Wait for me”. What does this function consist of, you will tell me. Nothing beats a concrete example to present yourself “Hold for me”.
Imagine talking to your telephone company on the phone and waiting for an advisor to take care of you. In most cases, you are allowed to listen to very annoying music. Most importantly, you can waste a few precious minutes of your time silently waiting behind your phone. Do you feel it coming This is where the Google Assistant and its new feature come in. Instead of waiting for the advisor to answer you (to use the example again), you can ask the Google Assistant to wait for you. And magic! When the advisor finally answers, the Google Assistant will warn you to regain control.
Google explains that this new feature is the result of a technological mix between two existing features: call screen and duplex. Mountain View added that the new feature would be available for the new Pixel 5 and immediately for the older generation pixels. “Hold for me” should be formalized in the next “Pixel Feature Drop”. If you want to know more about the brand new Pixel 5, we have published a full article covering all the features of the smartphone. As every year, Google raises the bar a little higher when it comes to photography. The Pixel 5 is touted as the new king of photography.
