A new youth is announced for the film Flashdance. CBS All Access aims to reproduce the cult Flashdance on the small screen. The streaming service Paramount + is developing a serial adaptation of the 1983 film, which started Jennifer Beal’s career. As the Hollywood Reporter reports, it will not be a sequel, but a modern remake.
After announcing the serial adaptation of the film “Grease”, the Paramount studio will try the same with the greatest success of 1983, namely Flashdance. To the delight of fans of the 80s, the hits “What a Feeling” or “Maniac” will make you want to dance. The new scenario is entrusted to Tracy McMillan, to whom we owe episodes of Mad Men, Runaways or Satisfaction.
The future series uses the same narrative, namely the misadventures of a young woman who this time is black and dreams of becoming a ballerina. Ella collects odd jobs to make ends meet and works in a striptease. Her passion for dance grows day by day until she decides to become the master of her destiny.
The project is currently only in development. It is therefore unclear who will replace the great Jennifer Beals, who became a star thanks to this cult film. (Belga / Belga)
