Obviously, Orange is very present in the news today. The operator is preparing to lift the veil of its 5G compatible cellular plans. A total of four offers from 39 to 94 euros per month are to be formalized in early October, including an impressive formula with an unlimited number of GB of Internet.
This isn’t the only news on the 5G side, as the first day of auction for the 5G band at 3.4-3.8 GHz was held today. On that first day, Orange dominated the competition by positioning itself to receive five maximum 10 MHz blocks allowed. In comparison, the competitors SFR and Bouygues Telecom each claim three blocks against two blocks for free mobile. No block has been allocated at the moment, but it is interesting to note the strong dominance of the incumbent operator.
Orange wants to seduce with streaming
In addition to 5G, Orange would look into a new offering that would combine the streaming services Netflix and OCS. A source from the company told us that the operator wanted to offer their customers a particularly attractive formula. Orange currently offers access to Netflix for 7.99 euros per month and a Bouquet Ciné Séries (OCS) package for 13.99 euros per month.
On this basis, Orange plans to present two limited series Livebox Up offers, in which Netflix and OCS will be merged:
- Fiber: 70 euros per month
- ADSL: 54 euros per month
The two Livebox Up formulas would cost 54 euros per month in the first year. As a reminder: Orange is offering the Livebox Up for 30 months for 30.99 euros (then 49.99 euros per month) for fiber optics, including more than 150 TV channels and unlimited calls to landlines and mobile phones in many countries.
This offer is reserved for new UP customers – whether Livebox UP or Open UP. A second offer would also be offered to those who are already customers: It would cost 19.99 euros without a special offer in the first year.
The two OCS and Netflix formulas are presented as standard formulas. However, Orange plans to introduce a premium offering that will allow access to the two video streaming platforms. The price is currently unknown.
Note that Free Mobile also offers optional access to Netflix for 7.99 euros per month for the Internet boxes Freebox Pop, Mini 4K and Revolution.
