Clint Eastwood is back in front of and behind the camera and gives us a sublime, touching and moving film. Tonight at 8:35 p.m. on La Une.
At over 80, Earl Stone is in dire straits. Not only is he broke and alone, but his business is also at risk of foreclosure. He then takes on a job that – apparently – just asks him to be the driver. Apart from the fact that, without knowing it, he had committed himself to being a drug smuggler for a Mexican cartel.
It is extremely efficient and transports increasingly important goods. This forces the leaders of the cartel, always suspicious, to impose a “superior” on it to oversee it. But they’re not the only ones interested in him: DEA agent Colin Bates is more than fascinated by this new “mule”.
Between the police, the cartel’s henchmen and the ghosts of the past threatening to overtake him, Earl is now in a dizzying race against time …
Big Clint hasn’t surprised us yet. The Mule is an existential road movie that will overwhelm you.
