It’s been two years since his latest feature film and English language debut. The sisters brothers, Premiered at the 2018 Venice Film Festival and as diversity ShiftsJacques Audiard is back on set with The Olympic games.
It’s quite a leap from his black western comedy, however: this one is based on Adrian Tomines Kill and die and will show female protagonists in a story of youth. A cartoonist for people like The New Yorker, Tomine’s collection of short stories debuted in 2015, after which AO Scott described the book as “certainly invited[ing] Comparison with the work of word-only short-form masters such as Raymond Carver, Ann Beattie and Mary Gaitskill and, by the way, O. Henry himself “despite his graphic novel format.
Audiard wrote the adaptation together with Léa Mysius and Céline Sciamma. Christel Baras is the casting director of the project and repeats her role at Audiard The sisters brothers, Sciammas Portrait of a Burning Lady, and more. Paul Guilhaume also stars as a cameraman, most recently after filming the two episodes of Audiard The office and Sébastien Lifshitz Little girl. Filming is currently in progress outside of Paris.
