While measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic are forcing 54 French departments to put in place a curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., home delivery services will again be in high demand. 46 million French people can no longer go out, go to a restaurant, see an exhibition or anything else for 6 weeks after 9 p.m. It is not easy to come up with meal ideas every evening, but the situation is particularly problematic for restaurant owners. Fortunately, Deliveroo and its competitors are not affected by these measures. The deliverers can still shop.
Deliveroo presents “It recommends”
Clever, Deliveroo uses this highlight to add a new feature called: “It recommends”. The hugely popular British company in France describes this feature as a participation card. This map lists the tips and best addresses of several influencers. The project will initially be launched in Paris and Lyon. Deliveroo intends to make its application much more than a simple bridge between the customer and the restaurant owner by making this platform increasingly social and interactive.
Deliveroo is simply reinventing the notification system that was born and aged with the internet. It is not always easy to rely on simple advice when choosing a restaurant, as this system can also be easily sabotaged. With “It recommends” it is real people who advise you, certainly influencers, but real people nonetheless. A new way to discover the food side of your city, but above all a way for Deliveroo to stand out from the competition.
The first influencers selected for this project are Holy Camille, Les Paris de Laura, Food Alix, Thibault Octave and Steve Houkponou. Others should join the adventure over the weeks. Deliveroo continues to grow and intends to continue expanding in France. The food delivery service is expected to conquer 7 new cities by 2021. Impossible to know the affected cities at the moment.
